What I'm Alive is

I'm Alive is a free, peer-to-peer daily check-in tool. People who live alone confirm they're okay with one tap each day. Their family or friends are notified if a check-in is missed, giving them peace of mind and a clear signal to follow up.

What I'm Alive is not

  • Not a medical alert system. We are not Life Alert, Lifeline, or any other monitored medical alert device. There is no professional monitoring center, no hardware, no wearable that detects falls automatically.
  • Not a substitute for emergency services. A missed check-in does not summon paramedics, police, or fire services. It notifies the people you have chosen to alert.
  • Not monitored by professionals. No nurse, doctor, social worker, or call center staff watches your check-ins. The notification flow is between you and the people you have invited.
  • Not medical advice. Articles on this site discuss safety best practices, eldercare considerations, and aging-in-place topics. They are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, or social-care advice. Always consult a qualified professional for decisions about your or a loved one's health.
  • Not a diagnosis or treatment tool. I'm Alive does not diagnose conditions, prescribe care, or replace any clinical service.

How to use it responsibly

I'm Alive works best as part of a layered safety plan:

  • Daily check-in for routine peace of mind
  • Trusted contacts who can physically check on the person
  • A real medical alert device or emergency button if there is a fall risk
  • Regular doctor visits for ongoing health concerns
  • Local emergency services for any acute situation

We are the gentle daily layer — not the emergency layer. Both matter, and they are not interchangeable.

Editorial accountability

All articles on imalive.co are written by named, identifiable authors. Safety claims are sourced from primary authorities (CDC, NHS, NIH, peer-reviewed journals, recognized nonprofits). When we get something wrong, we correct it publicly. Read more about our standards on the founder page and about page.

Questions
