Safety for independent living

Independent living, on the Apple devices you already trust.

When you live alone, the gap isn’t the emergency — it’s the ordinary day when no one would know. I’m Alive turns the Apple devices you already trust into a daily safety companion: a one-tap check-in, and a calm, staged escalation to your Trusted Circle if you ever can’t respond. Apple helps in the moment of crisis; I’m Alive helps every day around it.

Built on Apple tech. No cameras. No constant tracking.

A real safety net — in your hands today.

The core is already live: a daily check-in, and a staged escalation to your own trusted contacts by push and email — never a call center.

Your trusted circle

Add the people who look out for you. Alerts go to them — your own people — by push and email, escalating gently before anything urgent.

Coming in our next update

More active safety, on the way.

These aren’t in the App Store build yet — they arrive in our next update. When they do, they’ll alert your own trusted contacts, never a call center or a 911 dispatcher.

Coming in our next update

Built to extend the Apple ecosystem.

We don’t replace what Apple already does well — we build on it. Our next update brings five first-party Apple surfaces to the safety engine you already use: on your wrist, glanceable, hands-free, and on-device. No extra hardware to buy.

Apple Watch

Check in from your wrist

A native Apple Watch app shows your check-in status at a glance and lets you tap “I’m OK” — or SOS — right from your wrist. It even shows your last-known status offline.

ActivityKit

Live Activities & Dynamic Island

Your safety status — an active trip or your next check-in — glanceable on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, without opening the app.

WidgetKit

Interactive widgets

Check in with one tap from your Home Screen, and watch your countdown — no app launch needed.

App Intents & Siri

Hands-free with Siri

Say “I’m OK,” “Start check-in,” or “SOS” — for the moments you physically can’t reach the screen.

CoreMotion

On-device fall awareness

The iPhone quietly watches for a hard fall on-device, asks “Are you OK?”, and escalates to your Trusted Circle if you don't respond. Best-effort, not a medical device; it routes to your own people, never 911.

Built accessible-first.

Because the people who need a safety net most can’t be locked out of it. The safety flows carry VoiceOver labels, controls meet 44-point tap targets, motion is reduced when you ask for it, and the app works with your phone’s voice control, switch access and magnification.

A safety net, not surveillance.

Emergency-only location

No background or always-on tracking. Location is captured only during an active emergency escalation — at most twice per incident.

Wiped within 72 hours

Emergency location is encrypted at rest and the record is wiped within 72 hours — and we never store raw GPS.

Unmonitored by design

We alert your own people, not a call center or a 911 dispatcher. And we never sell your data.

Protection that fits how you live.

Living alone

Dignity and independence for people who live alone — and peace of mind for the families who love them.

Solo travel

Trip check-ins, Follow Me and faster escalation for when you’re on the move — coming in our next update.

Questions

Does I'm Alive need an Apple Watch?

No — I'm Alive runs on your iPhone, and no Apple Watch or other wearable is required. A native Apple Watch app is coming in our next update, so you can check in and see your status from your wrist if you have one, but it's always optional.

Is I'm Alive monitored by a call center?

No. I'm Alive is unmonitored by design. If you miss a check-in, it alerts the contacts you chose — never a call center or a 911 dispatcher. Always call 911 directly in a life-threatening emergency.

Does I'm Alive track my location all the time?

No. There is no background or always-on location tracking. Your location is captured only during an active emergency escalation, at most twice per incident, and the encrypted record is wiped within 72 hours.

Do I have to check in every day?

Only if you want to. You can use I'm Alive only when you're out and about or travelling, or keep a daily check-in — your choice.

When you live alone, your phone should know if something’s wrong.

And so should the people who love you.
