Is Try It really free?
Yes. Try It includes unlimited daily check-ins, push + email reminders, 1 emergency contact, and one miss-alert a month if you go quiet — free forever, no signup required. We create an anonymous account on first launch so your check-ins and contact persist across days; you can convert it to a real sign-in later if you want.
Will my contact be alerted if I miss a check-in on Try It?
Yes — once a month. Try It alerts your one contact if you go silent, capped at one alert per month, so the contact is never fatigued. Want alerts every time, plus escalation and SMS? That's Protect Me ($29.99/yr). The daily 'all good' confirmation stays off on Try It.
What does the 7-day free trial cover on Protect Me On The Move?
Protect Me On The Move ($39.99/yr) includes a 7-day free trial — try it for a week. Cancel anytime in your app store account before day 7 and you pay nothing. Protect Me ($29.99/yr) is billed from day one and does not include a free trial, but you can cancel anytime. Switching during the trial may end the trial early per store behaviour.
How does I'm Alive Protect Me On The Move compare to Snug?
Snug Dispatch is $199.99/yr (price verified October 2025). I'm Alive Protect Me On The Move is $39.99/yr — about 5× cheaper than Snug — and it only captures location during an active alert, auto-deleting location data after 72 hours.
What is the worry-window?
The worry-window is the gap between when a missed check-in starts to feel concerning and when a human voice confirms the person is okay. Protect Me On The Move targets a 90-minute median worry-window using daily check-in nudges, enriched alerts to contacts, and — coming soon — an AI voice safety check that reaches out to the missed user.
What does Protect Me On The Move add over Protect Me?
Protect Me On The Move is the on-the-move tier (still 1 protected person): everything in Protect Me plus the active-safety rollout arriving through 2026: voice alerts, live location, Follow Me tracking, arrival/geofence monitoring, an AI voice safety check, and enhanced solo-travel. It's built for solo travelers, hikers, and women traveling alone — not a family plan.
What does Stay Connected & Travel Safely add?
Stay Connected & Travel Safely (Lifetime) is a one-time feature upgrade: custom check-in times, check-in notes, manual alert test, a basic passive monitoring view, an optional daily 'all good' opt-in, up to 5 miss-alerts a month, plus a limited Solo-Travel taster arriving July 2026 (2 trips/mo, ≤24h). It still includes 1 emergency contact. If you need multiple contacts, escalation, or SMS, you need Protect Me or Protect Me On The Move.
Can I switch between plans?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade anytime from the app. Stay Connected & Travel Safely is a one-time purchase you keep even if you later subscribe to Protect Me or Protect Me On The Move.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Cancel anytime in your app store account — the Apple App Store or Google Play, wherever you subscribed. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google directly; we never store your card details, so there is no billing account with us to close and no one to phone before you can leave. There are no cancellation fees. After you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for, then simply doesn't renew.
Are there hidden fees?
No. There are no activation fees, no cancellation fees, no equipment to buy or return, and no per-alert charges — the price shown is everything you pay. Try It is $0 forever. Stay Connected & Travel Safely is a single $4.99 one-time purchase. Protect Me ($29.99/yr) and Protect Me On The Move ($39.99/yr) include their SMS and escalation alerts in the subscription price, so an emergency never shows up on a bill.
I subscribed to Protect Me at $19.99 — will my price go up?
No. If you subscribed to Protect Me at $19.99, you're grandfathered — your renewal stays at $19.99/year for as long as the subscription remains active. The May 2026 price update to $29.99/year applies to new subscribers only; it reflects the per-SMS cost of escalation alerts to up to 10 emergency contacts. If you cancel and later resubscribe, the then-current price applies, so keeping the subscription active is what preserves your original rate.
Are there any ads?
No ads in any plan. A safety app should be clean and focused, not cluttered with advertising.
What about my data — do you sell it?
No. We collect minimal data and never sell or share it with third parties. Protect Me On The Move location data is purged after 72 hours; the rest is end-of-life on your account.
