Is the Free plan really free?
Yes. Free includes daily check-in, push + email reminders, and 1 emergency contact — free forever, no signup required. We create an anonymous account on first launch so your check-ins and contact persist across days; you can convert it to a real sign-in later if you want.
Will my contact be alerted if I miss a check-in on the Free plan?
No. Free is a self check-in plan — reminders go to you. Alerting your emergency contact if you don't respond is the core feature of the Family plan ($29.99/yr, with a 7-day free trial). On Free you can send one test alert so you and your contact can see exactly what an alert looks like. Lifetime ($4.99 one-time) adds a daily 'all good' note to your contact, but does not alert on a missed check-in.
What does the 7-day free trial cover on Family and Family Plus?
Both Family ($29.99/yr) and Family Plus ($39.99/yr) come with a 7-day free trial. Pick one and try it for a week. Cancel anytime in your app store account before day 7 and you pay nothing. Switching during the trial may end the trial early per store behaviour — if you're unsure, start with Family and upgrade after the trial.
How does I'm Alive Family Plus compare to Snug?
Snug Dispatch is $199.99/yr and requires GPS-always-on for its safety features. I'm Alive Family Plus is $39.99/yr — about 5× cheaper than Snug — only captures location during an active alert, and auto-deletes location data after 72 hours.
What is the worry-window?
The worry-window is the gap between when a missed check-in starts to feel concerning and when a human voice confirms the person is okay. Family Plus targets a 90-minute median worry-window using daily check-in nudges, enriched alerts to contacts, and an AI voice agent that calls the missed user.
What does Family Plus add over Family?
Family Plus adds an AI voice agent that calls a missed user before contacts get woken up, plus emergency-only location (visible to caregivers only while an alert is active, auto-purged in 72 hours). Family covers most check-in needs; Family Plus is built for caregivers of an aging parent who lives alone.
What does the Lifetime plan add?
Lifetime is a feature upgrade: custom check-in times, check-in notes, manual alert test, a basic passive monitoring view, and a daily 'all good' note to your one contact. It does not alert your contact if you miss a check-in — that's the Family plan. If you need multiple contacts or alerting, you need Family or Family Plus.
Can I switch between plans?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade anytime from the app. Lifetime is a one-time purchase you keep even if you later subscribe to Family or Family Plus.
Are there any ads?
No ads in any plan. A safety app should be clean and focused, not cluttered with advertising.
What about my data — do you sell it?
No. We collect minimal data and never sell or share it with third parties. Family Plus location data is purged after 72 hours; the rest is end-of-life on your account.
