One minute, once a month
Test your safety net
Your alerts can be working perfectly on our side and still go unseen — filed into a junk folder, or sent to a phone number with a typo. The only proof that matters is your contact saying “yes, I got it.” This test gets you that proof in about a minute.
How to run it
- Open the I'm Alive app and go to Settings → Test my safety net.
- Tap Send test. We send a real alert to you through every channel your plan uses — the same push, email, text and voice call an emergency would use, clearly marked as a test. It proves your own channels and our pipeline end-to-end.
- Watch each channel report back on the screen: sent, or exactly why not.
- Then the step the test can't do for you: check with your contact. Every day you check in, we email them a confirmation — ask them plainly: “are you getting my daily ‘checked in’ emails?” If they are, alerts will reach them the same way. If they aren't, something is wrong today, while nothing is at stake.
If your contact isn't getting the daily emails
- Check their junk or spam folder first. Email providers sometimes file even urgent alerts there. Two minutes of setup fixes it permanently — here are the steps for every email app.
- Check their phone number in your Trusted Circle — digit by digit, including the country code. A single wrong digit means the text goes to a stranger or nowhere.
- If something still doesn't reach them, write to support@imalive.co — a person will look at your account.
Make it a habit
Phones change, inboxes change, numbers change. Run the test once a month, and any time you add or edit a contact. A safety net you've seen work is a different thing from one you hope works — for you, and for the people who love you.
